Grip and balance are two very overlooked aspects of your workout. At the end of the day, you need to have an effective workout to get the results you're looking for. A weak workout simply is just not 'stimulating' enough and won't send those signals for progress/growth.
We all want to be tough and live by no pain no gain. But it is important to keep in mind that intensity(specifically what you are intensifying) and the work that was done are just as important. In other words you need to challenge your muscles enough without going too light. Remember we need to introduce a stress(stimulus) the body has trouble handling to signal improve to make this easier in the future. Both too much/heavy/intense and not sustainable for long enough and too light/easy will fail to create that stimulus.
Gloves will not only keep your hands caulis free and soft, but it will improve your grip. If you improve your grip you can lift heavier, it's that simple. To be more specific, it's not that you can lift heavier, but you won't be compromising your maximum lifting output due to not being able to grip/hold weight properly. This is where the other important part comes in which is balance. Training balance with bosu balls and medicine balls are great, but this can be accomplished with proper form. Be sure to position yourself anatomically to be engaging the correct muscles. You want to be feeling your abs engage, knees slight bend with the legs engaged, and your tiny stability muscles at work, keeping your body stable and still as much as possible. Otherwise you once again compromise your max lift, which in turn potentially compromises your workout(depending on the goal) and you end up with ineffective workouts and a plateau you just can't get past.
